India's First
oral systemic Health Clinic
This is India’s first of its type, focusing on bridging the gap between oral/dental health and overall/general health. The health of all bodily systems, such as the heart, brain, lungs, intestines, stomach, kidneys, and so on, is referred to as systemic health. According to popular belief, all bodily systems operate as separate entities. However, the entire body, including the mouth, operates as a single system.
Oral illnesses, notably periodontitis (gum disease) caused by numerous bacteria, can increase the chance of developing diabetes, heart disease, pre-term low baby weight births, and Alzheimer’s disease.
This is due to the fact that severe gum disease raises the amount if toxins in the blood, which can transfer to other regions of the body and cause disease.
Dr. Bhagavad Gita, Director of the Oral Systemic Health Clinic, holds a PhD in Periodontics Microbiology and has discovered a molecule (miR-146a) that might induce heart disease in people with severe gum disease. She works as a Research Scientist at the Chennai Dental Research Foundation and is participating in a number of worldwide collaborative initiatives aimed at integrating Oral Systemic Health.
The Clinic's goals are as follows:
- To educate all of our patients about the importance of good dental health in overall wellness
- To identify people who are at high risk of acquiring other diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease, as a result of poor oral health.
- Monitor the oral and medical care of patients suffering from oral disorders as well as diseases such as diabetes and heart disease.
- To combine our patients' oral / dental treatment with their medical management by periodic monitoring and discussion with their physician.
